Departure from your hotel in Siena at 9.00 a.m. to the city of Cortona, one of the oldest cities in Tuscany founded by the Etruscans. The visit will begin from Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Signorelli, in the heart of the town, dominated by the city hall (Palazzo del Comune) built in 1236. Close to the Piazza Signorelli we find the Palazzo Casali, where the Museum of the Etruscan Academy resides. Continuing long the road between Palazzo Casali and Teatro Signorelli, we arrive at the Duomo where we can admire the Renaissance Cathedral designed by Giuliano da Sangallo. In front of the Cathedral resides the Museo Diocesano. Our visit continues towards Assisi (it is known for being the city in which San Francesco and Santa Chiara were born, lived, and died). We can also appreciate traditional dishes of Umbria in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon, we will visit the Basilica of San Francesco, one of the most artistic and religious highlights of Europe that is frescoed from top to bottom by important Italians artists: Cimabue, Giotto, Simone Martini, and Pietro Lorenzetti. The tour continues through the evocative streets of the city with possible visits of the “Foro Romano” and archaeological collection, Pinacoteca Comunale, Temple of Minerva, Basilica of Santa Chiara, and Church of San Rufino. The last stage is in the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli, one of the most beautiful churches of Italy. Inside this renaissance church, there is the “Porzioncola” the little church in which San Francesco had his conversion and spent almost all of his life.

We will return in the hotel around 17.00 p.m.
